Scope
This policy is effective from the 27th February 2024.
This Privacy Policy describes how and when ChipDEX collects, uses and shares Your personal information when You use our Services.
Purpose and legal basis
We process Your personal data in order for us to manage our user relationship with You, including managing Your account and providing You access to use our App. The processing of Your personal data is performed on the legal basis of:
- Our fulfilment of our contractual obligations when delivering the App to You.
We process Your reviews of chips and allow other users to view Your reviews. This is performed on the legal basis of:
- Your freely given consent provided when creating an account in the App.
We also process Your personal data to deliver and improve the App, and manage our business, to improve our offerings, develop new features, updates and personalization services. This processing is on the basis of:
- Our legitimate interest to improve our App and Services.
We also use Your personal data to display to You personalized marketing messages on our App, to inform You about new features and updates on the App, and let You know about our policies and Terms and Conditions. The processing of personal data is performed based on:
- Your freely given consent to receive marketing by e-mail and push notifications provided when creating an account in the App, which You may withdraw at any time by sending an email request to hello@chipdex.com.
If You withdraw Your consent to receive personalized marketing messages, we will still display marketing messages to You on the App, but they will be of a generic nature and therefore less relevant to You.
Collection of personal information
We mainly collect the personal data that You submit to us, including Your contact information and reviews. But we also collect information in several ways from different parts of the App, as further detailed below, including but not limited to the way You use the App and technical information about Your devices and location.
Please note that You may use our App without creating an account, in which case we will only collect data given by You in the form of anonymous chip reviews, Your Device’s location (if enabled) and based on Your consent to our cookie policy described below.
When creating an account
When creating an account via our online App, You provide us with certain information, including email, password, username and name (optional).
Some of this information will never be made public, such as email, name and password.
Please note that Your username will be public at all times.
When using the App
We register the information You provide when using the App, including chip reviews, Your traffic on the App and Your communication with us.
Users are encouraged not to reveal personal data concerning the user itself when commenting on chips, nor when uploading pictures on the App. When a User makes such information about them or others public, the User is responsible for ensuring legal ground for disclosing the information.
Our App will ask for Your permission to enable the collection of the location of Your device/You. If You have given permission to collect Your device location, we will use the location to show You certain offers available around Your location as a personalized marketing message. Location may also be used for analytics.
Our App will ask for Your permission to access the device’s camera if You choose this method to upload a picture to the App. Your device’s camera will not be accessed on any other occasion.
Cookies and Site Data
We use cookies and other site data to enable the App and this website to work, and to provide You with a personalized experience.
When You use our App, we collect information about You that allows us to identify Your device. The information is used to customize and improve our content on the App and to get statistical information (not personal information), so we can provide You with the best possible experience.
If You choose not to accept cookies at all You may not be able to use all the functions of our website. You can modify Your browser so that cookies are not stored on Your computer, tablet, mobile, etc. For example, see instructions here: <a target=”_blank” href="http://minecookies.org/cookiehandtering">http://minecookies.org/cookiehandtering</a>. Be aware, however, that without cookies, You may not be able to use all the functions of our website.
Besides our own cookies, we use cookies from third parties, e.g. from suppliers of analytic tools and from suppliers of social media. These third-party cookies are used for marketing purposes and for improving the functionality of the website. We use the following third party cookies:

- Amplitude
- OneSignal
Sharing of data
Personal data about our users is an essential part of our business. We only share Your personal data as described below.
- We share Your reviews with other Users.
- We share personal data regarding You to third-party service providers that help us provide the Service to You - for example sending email messages or push notifications on our behalf. These service providers are bound by confidentiality obligations. Our contracts with these service providers prohibit them from using any of Your information for purposes other than those for which they have received Your information.
- We may share personal data regarding You if we are obligated to do so by law.
Your rights as a user
Access and correction of data
If Your personal information changes, You may update it at any time via the App. Otherwise please contact us at hello@chipdex.com.
If You wish to access any of Your information that we hold or You would like to correct any errors in that information, You can do so via the App, or You may contact us at hello@chipdex.com. However, we may charge You an administrative fee for providing access to Your information in response to a request.
When we receive a request to access, rectify, erase or port data, we may ask You for additional information in order to confirm Your identity and ensure data security. You can send a request to hello@chipdex.com.
Data retention and account deletion
Your data is Yours. You can remove it anytime You want, either by using the Profile page within the App, or sending a request to hello@chipdex.com. When You request us to delete Your ChipDEX account, Your data will be permanently expunged from our primary production servers and further access to Your ChipDEX account will not be possible.
When You delete Your account, we delete the data attached to Your account including Your username. The username will be deleted from all reviews, and the reviews will be anonymized for future viewing.
Security
User accounts including personal data are protected by a password for Your privacy and security. You should ensure no unauthorized access to Your account and personal data by choosing and protecting Your password appropriately. We do our best to ensure that user accounts are kept private. However, various instances such as unauthorized entry/use, hardware or software failure, and other factors, may compromise the security of the personal data.
Changes to privacy policy
The privacy policy may be amended from time to time by us with fair notice to You before the new privacy policy comes into force.
Privacy complaints
If You wish to notify us of any privacy complaint You may have against us, including if You think that we have failed to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles, You may contact us at hello@chipdex.com.
It is our intention to resolve Your complaint to Your satisfaction. However, if You feel that Your complaint has not been satisfactorily addressed or that it is taking too long to resolve Your complaint, You are entitled to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), on 1300 363 992 or the other contact details on the OAIC’s website (oaic.gov.au), who may investigate Your complaint further.
